Nonetheless, a warm cup of hot chocolate is the perfect drink on any cold winter day.

Homemade hot chocolate is made from simple, real ingredient. On the other hand, store bought hot chocolate is full of sugar and preservatives just like almost everything that come packaged.
The same goes for freshly whipped cream. All it takes is some cream and a bit of sugar. Canned whipped cream and container whipped cream are full of unnecessary additives. The fresh, creamy taste of homemade whipped cream is no comparison.
Cooking from scratch is the healthiest way to live. Little by little, work on eliminating the packed, overly processed items from your pantry. Start with this homemade hot chocolate! It’s simple, flavorful and so much more satisfying!

How to Make Homemade Hot Chocolate
For homemade hot chocolate all you need is milk, cocoa powder, honey and vanilla with a pinch of salt to mix up some creamy hot chocolate. This recipe will make about 3-4 mugs of hot chocolate.
Ingredients
- 4 cups Milk
- 1/2 cup Cocoa
- 1/2 cup Honey
- 2 tsp. Vanilla
- Pinch of Salt
Instructions
- Pour the milk into a saucepan.
- Warm the milk over medium-low heat.
- Add in the cocoa and honey.
- Stir until combined.
- Remove from heat.
- Add the vanilla and a pinch of salt.
- Top with whipped cream.
- Using milk instead of water will make the hot chocolate creamy. I’ve used organic whole milk and almond milk.
- It can be sweetened with honey or maple syrup.
- Replace the vanilla extract with peppermint extract for a different flavor.

How to Make Whipped Cream
Making freshly whipped cream is so simple! All you need is some heavy whipping cream and sugar. There will probably be extra leftover if you are using it for hot chocolate but who doesn’t like extra whipped cream!
Ingredients
- 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- 1/4 cup Sugar
Instructions
- Pour heavy whipping cream into mixer.
- Begin mixing on high speed. If you use a Kitchen-Aid mixer turn it on about the 6 speed.
- Add in the sugar.
- Continue to mix for about 5 minutes until it begins to thicken.
- Spoon the whipped cream on top of the hot chocolate.
